Island Bay Festival
2025
A refresh for one of our favourite local festivals. With a brief to make things more flexible, fun and to pop(!) this new look stretches across print material, a new website and digital assets for social media.
Designed as a flexible system, it can shift tone, colour, and texture to suit different events while remaining rooted in place. Inspired by the icons of Island Bay and the wild south coast, the look aims to capture the spirit of where land, sea, and community combine.

Bold & Fun -
graphics inspired
by screen printing
This look known as Risograph printing is a technique best described as a ‘digital screen printing’. The process is similar to screen printing, but with the convenience of an office copier. The Riso printer is known for its vivid colours (that other printers can’t produce) and its specific textures. Recreated digitally this method the of ‘perfect imperfections’ provides an easy system for reproducing posters, prints and more.

Grounded in the past
Adding depth will be a range of archive maps & plans from Island Bay sourced from the council archive.
This brings in place names, geography and local context. This layer will be used to create a unique patina texture background that grounds the viewer in ‘this’ place.
